Gate 4 x 4 secured to concrete
Hello,
I have to do a fence gate. The ground where it needs to be installed is over concrete--about an 8ft span. One end post will be secured at the house. Another end post secured to a detached garage.
My question is...what is best to secure the middle gate post, a 4 x 4- to the concrete ground base? Would one of these anchor the 4 x 4 securely? Which one? The gate will be about 4ft high.

Thanks!

Why do you need a mid post? Just curious. Could not the two gates lock to themselves? That would also give you full access rather than a post in the middle of the gate.

Agree with Larry. You could use a drop rod on one half to make have the gate stationary until you need the full width. It clamps to the gate side and drops into a hole in the concrete, but can be lifted to open both sides of the gate.

Thanks....I see what you guys are saying, but not sure for 2 reasons.
1.) There's a lot of crap, vegetation and an AC unit on one side that would prevent pushing that section inward--and I don't want to pull it outward....OK maybe that can side can just stay stationary, but.....
2.) It seems chronic whenever I see 2 gate sections latched in the middle--all too often the latching is an ill-fitting affair, with a high failure rate.
Perhaps tell me what I'm missing on #2? Do you have a pic or web link? Thanks!

In line with my initial question....--If I felt more comfortable wanting to do a center post (with one fence side stationary) --How would I anchor the post?

OK so here's how it worked out...before and after pics...thanks again. Turns out there was a spot of ground to put a 4 x 4 post in.
