Wood gate- inward Inside swing hardware
I've had a 3.5' high wood fence built with 4x4 post. The exterior of the gate will be flush with the horizontal wood planks. Ideally, I would like the gate to swing inwards and be self closing.
What type of hardware/ hinge should I be looking for?

I would doubt it because in your setup there.... when the gate is open... there is only room for the hinge.... no closer.

You can buy weight driven closers (essentially a weight on a chain) that could work with your configuration. Search for gravity gate closer. Another option would be a storm door spring between the hinge side post and the front of the gate.
