Adding slats to existing fence

Hello everyone,

My husband and I are trying to make our fence more private along the street. We recently tore down the bamboo the previous owner had added (it looked trashy). Now we wish to fill the gaps between the boards. Would it be possible to add some kind of smaller slat to the other side of the fence to block the gaps (almost like a shadow box, but with the original fence on one side) or would this hamper the wind too much? I don't see any posts about people doing this, so I assume there is a valid reason why not.

They make tongue and groove fences, wouldn't that also have the same wind resistance?

I appreciate your suggestions/ideas.

Welcome to the forums!
If you mean installing boards on the other side of the fence framing there shouldn't be any issues with doing so. It will make the fence heavier but will still let some air pass.
