Dog run wood posts

I built a dog run, 50% chain link and the rest was wood fence that had already been installed. There are a couple treated 4x4 posts in the run the dog likes to use as a pee post. I wondering what to do to further protect these posts from the dog (paint, wrapping?). I am going to introduce a pee post for the dog, hopefully he takes to it.

I'd say don't do anything. The pee is already in the wood so anything you do will mostly be just cosmetic. If you do want to do something I would get a PVC post cover. You'd just slide it down over the 4x4 post and it will have a nice smooth white surface.
