Metal Post Thickness Calculator?

Hi Guys!

Is there a good reference document or calculator for loading metal gate posts?

I am building a gate (double gate, 10ft total width/5ft per gate section, 6ft tall, cedar pickets) and am trying to figure out if I should use 3 or 4 square metal posts. There are a ton of resources available for wood posts, but not a lot for schedule 40 steel posts, but I am sure I am missing it.

Thanks in advance

If using sch 40 wall thickness you should be fine with 3" or 4" tubing if you put them in a proper foundation. I would even consider going to thinner wall thickness but the choice usually comes down to what's available on the rack at my local metal shop.
