I installed my first fence around my pool. Due to the size of walk to the pool I went with a double gate to get full use of the walkway. Normally, we will only use one side so I need to come up with a way to keep other gate from moving. I was thinking about using a cane bolt but am not sure if that will pass code? Does anybody have any ideas or will my cane bolt idea be good enough?

I am no expert but I would expect that the cane bolt cannot be operated/opened any less than 54" above grade. I'm thinking this would be easiest by running the cane bolt inside the gate's tubing frame. You could also install a separate tube around the cane bolt so it can't be touched until at least 54" above grade. A way around this would be to lock the cane bolt in position with a lock requiring a key.
I've been fixing this bird house. It's roughly 2 x 2 x 1.5 ft. I need to get raise up on a post that's about 12 feet off the ground. I have a 12 foot step ladder, which usually gets me to a working height of 14 feet or so.
But the thing is it's heavy. Getting it up the ladder while holding it in 2 hands is the first issue...maybe I can do that. But more challenging is...once I get it 12 feet up there I'll need to hold it with 2 hands while I put it into position. (It sits on a square board attached on top of the post) Yet I don't feel safe to take my hands off the ladder, balance myself, and then put it on the post.
Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

We have a large yard that we want to fence in for the dog. Many neighbors have black aluminum fence, but any "see thru" fence is acceptable. Privacy fences need permits and approvals, see thru doesn't need permits.
The 6' tall black aluminum fence is quite pricy. What is the most cost effective type of fence to install?
Wood? Chain link?
