Gamo Hunter 440 .22 Air rifle PLEASE HELP!!
hello and merry christmas to you all!!
I was given a Gamo Hunter 440 .22 air rifle for a christmas present. it is my first air rifle and i have a few questions i would like answered!
i was given some "Trophy Hunter" and "Dynamit Nobel" Superdome ammunition with the rifle and i have just been shooting it around a bit. i was wondering if anybody with this rifle would be able to tell me which ammunition is best suited to it and what their preferences are.
The rifle also has a hawke scope fitted to it and i was also wondering about scope slippage. i have not experienced any slippage so far, however in some of the articles i have read it has shown to be a common issue with the Gamo Hunter 440 air rifle. If anybody has experienced scope slippage i would really appreciate some feedback on how much and how often it happens...etc!!!
Thank you all

I have not shot a Gamo Hunter 440, but have several air rifles. My advice on ammunition would be the same for any firearm.......It depends. Each firearm is different, and I have found with mine that some pellets work better in one gun than others. Since you have two different ones to try, get the targets out, and shoot some shot groups. Use the same number of pumps, range, and a good rest, and see how tight the shot groups are.
Don't necessarily worry at this time about whether the groups are in the bullseye or not. You can adjust the sights for whichever pellet gives the tightest grouping.
As to scope slippage, most times scope slippage on any firearm is a funtion of how the scope, rings, etc. were mounted and the choice of equipment. There are more scope slippage problems because of improper technique or equipment, than because of a particular type/model of firearm.
Good luck with your Gamo, and Merry Christmas.

Which pellets did you use to sight it in, and how good was the grouping at what range?
I would not change ammo, if you are going hunting, unless you have time to sight it in again.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
