Inexpensive Shotgun for Home protection and Rec Skeet Shooting

Hello all,
I am in the market for a new shotgon prefer a 20 gauge would like it mainly for just some recreational skeet shooting and for home protection also. No Kids in home so no worries there.

When I Was younger I had a single shot mossberg around age 9 then a Remington 870 around 13 that was a great gun. I am thinking about an 870 again but I was wondering if you all have any suggestions for something a little less expensive since I am not sure how much I want to invest till I decided if I want to do more than the occasional shooting..

My father also had a 20 gauge 1170 lightweight remington and that thing was sooo nice but I can't even think about spending that kind of cash.

Anyway I would appriciate any input as far as if I may be able to get a decent gun for around 150 new or should I look for a used remington or buck up and get a new 870..

Thanks in advance fellahs.. X

The Mossberg pump is not a bad gun at all, and you can get a 870 Express either one for around $300 bucks. Unless you're looking to go used I don't know what kind of reliability you're going to find for $150.

Thanks for the Reply Mattison I was actually wondering about a new mossberg or I have seen some new guns that seem to be plain jane and had some decent reviews the Charles Daly shotguns.. But I have never heard of them.. They sell them at Walmart here for for less than 200 for a new Pump and 299 for an Semi-Auto.

Honestly, I would not take a charles daly for free. Just my opinion of them.

The 870 is one of if not the best pump gun ever made. You can always count on it working. I would assume you could pick one up at a pawn shop, gunshow for $150-$200. The mossberg will serve your purposes too. If I am not mistaken, the moss has one "arm" on the slide and the remington has two...that means its more stable and will last longer. shop around and check some internet sites for a cheap, used 870 express.

On another board there is talk of Wally World closing out 20ga Baretta 390's at $300.00. Normally $529.00

Baretta is a much better gun than the Daly. At the same price, the Baretta is a real bargain. You might want to check it out.

There are no reports of discounting 12 ga 390's.

maxi--do you have any of those berettas in your area? I have looked all over north Texas and cant find one. They did say they closed them out for $350 but they were gone in hours. If you find one we could work out shipping and payment costs....if you wouldnt mine

gracias.

the 870 is a sweet gun, good purchase X!!

Wink Baretta 390 20ga

SB,

I am on a road trip and will not be able to check it out for afew days.

I have been afraid to ask at my local store for fear they will have one and I won't be able to say no or worse, say no and forever kick myself.

I just bought my daughter a trap gun and myself a Kel-Tek P3AT. Another gun so soon and I might end up with a new address.

The Wal-Mart item number is 4818236. Any store should be able to check inventory from a computer. No need to unlock the gun room.

Happy Hunting!

Maxi-Ball
