old H&R handgun

I hope somebody can help me. I've just been given an older handgun by my father. He says he got it, he believes, "in 1956 or 1959" and it was supposedly 10 years old (?) when he got it. It is a revolver, 9 shot, 22LR. On the left side of the barrel is stamped Model 929 h & R Inc. Worcester, Mass. U.S.A. On the right side of the barrel is stamped "side-kick" on the bottom of the frame is stamped the serial no. X 6512. i'm very interested in trying to find history on when this gun was made, original sale price, etc. etc. All of my searches on the net have come up blank. Does anyone know the information I'm looking for, or a website where I might be able to find it? Thanking- you in advance..... Marc

Not sure this will help you. I typed in H&R revolvers in the search bar. They discuss the letters added to the serial numbers. You may want to search further here. 1st search in the list. Good luck.

Here's a little info http://www.pmulcahy.com/revolvers/us_revolvers_g-l.htm

I've seen them sell for around $170 bucks.

Old H & R Handgun

I have one of them. It is almost like new. Only shot a few times. I usually keep it with me in my truck. I bought nine in 1973 I think. Maybe a few years earlier. I am not sure that they still do not make them. They are a very popular handgun in the western states and northern plains. I believe they began making them in 1948. Look in the Gun Bluebook. It will tell all.
Yes, I only paid about $150 for mine. They are very good, and not expensive.
