Looking to kill someone at a long distance?
I am guessing you're wanting a tactical long range rifle, and you're not ready to climb a bell tower anytime soon. So, based on this, I'd suggest the FN Police models as a good mid-level tactical package. The Rem. 700PSS is also a good, solid choice and on the cheap but very effective end is the Savage 10FP rifles.
The Savages are my personal choice for 2 reasons, cost and accuracy. Having one of the best factory triggers on the market, and exceptionally good accuracy for a budget rifle makes them a solid choice and frees up alot of $$ for optics....which is where you should NOT skimp.
Here's my Savage 12 build, in .223...as an example I have about $600 in the whole gun, and it'll shoot 1/2 MOA all day long.

There is no reason NOT to own a beautiful firearm capable of such accuracy and power.
But, when you refer to them with the media's buzzword of "sniper rifle," you only help those who wish to take them away from us.
I love my Ruger M-77V Mark II, stainless steel, .308 with Leupold Vari-X III and Harris bipod. Classic lines, awesome accuracy, Ruger value.

Yours is certainly a beautiful piece. 1/2 MOA speaks for itself as well.
