Browning Sweet Sixteen Questions
I have a hand-me-down Browning Belgium "Sweet Sixteen" and have several questions about this shotgun.
1.There is a number on the underside of the receiver where shells are loaded. The top number is 75 with a five digit number under the 75. Is 75 the year of manufacture and the five digit the serial number?
2.Not clear about the type choke whether it is modified or improved cylinder. This is the ID on the rt side of the barell.
**-- SPECIAL STEEL-16 GAUGE-SHELLS 2 3/4"
3.The wood is what I describe as "blond" type gloss finish. There are several cosmetic flaws-some dings, one of a 1/2" gash on one side of the pistolgrip that I would categorize as minor. Should I leave the gash alone or have repaired?
4.I am thinking about having this shotgun gone over and professionally cleaned. Any idea what this would cost? I have shot this gun several times with cheap field loads and as I recall it would jam occasionally.
5.And while this gun will be a keepsake, I am curious about its apprx value.
Thanks for your answers and advice.
