I live in DC and want to get a shotgun for home defense because I travel a lot and want my wife to be able to defend herself and our two yr old. While I'm comfortable with weapons I have no idea of the things to consider when making this purchase. I want a trigger lock - I presume because won't that defeat the defense purpose? I was thinking of a Remington 870. Can someone please give me some advice on whether I'm on the right path. One last thing, because I'm in DC the barrel needs to be at least 17" to comply with the current DC law until the USSC overturns it in the next semester! Many thanks

Have a 22 with scope which Im trying to adjust , there's no removeable bolt so unable to sight bore. Thinking of buy either mechanical bore sight or laser ,both mount in front of barrel and are about the same price,( not the top of the line) but something just to get me on the paper until final adjustments can be made at the range. Any comments about either would be welcomed Thanks
