JC Higgins Bolt action .22
I know resurrecting an old post is like bringing the dead back to life, but, Vic, reckon you can pull that magic on a JC Higgins .22 tube fed bolt action? I've had one since the early .60's and am having problems with the firing mechanism releasing too quickly, and sometimes when the bolt is dropped. Scary.

Hey Larry...I moved this sort of as practice and because it may dredge up some hits from other people.

Thanks for the new post. Sorry for leaving off the numbers. Model 43, Sears 103.19811. I guess it was the .410 double barrel that was a JC Higgins, as this just has Sears on it.

Boy...must be a conspiracy...none of my "who makes Sears stuff" links work...more later! Looks like it MAY be a Marlin Model 81...still looking..

Hey, Vic, call off the dogs. Once I saw it had a Sears number, I googled it. It was manufactured by Marlin under their model number 81. I think I can find the sear, which after a little looking seems to be the worn part. Thanks, and if you have any more info for me, let me have it.

It's because you don't honor Daylight Savings Time. Simple. You have to wait one hour between posts rather than the 180 seconds, like I am having to wait for the remaining 23 seconds. OK, time's up.
