Gift rec

So our daughter asked me this morning if we needed and Christmas gift ideas for our new SIL and suggested a new gun cleaning kit, a "good one like comes in a briefcase".

I browsed Amazon and they have some that matches her description with the various size bore brushes, rods, etc. Couple of them include LED bore lights.

Question: Any opinions on one over another or a recommendation? Doesn't have to be Amazon, I just went there for an initial browse.

Will this be for rifles or pistols?

If it's for rifles, especially small caliber like .17 and .22 I like a solid, one piece cleaning rod. For pistols I'm much less fussy and will use almost anything. I use brass or copper brushes and patches. I only use mops (the white, fabric things) on shotguns.

Just opinions, but itís not rocket science and not the type of tool that gets abused so I canít imagine finding any significant differences in one brand over another. And although Iím not much of an online shopper, prefer brick and mortar over internet, this is exactly the type of thing I would start on Amazon with. Plenty of variety, great service, and although I have only limited experience have found them very responsive to anything that was not exactly as it appeared on the screen or whatever.

This will be handguns AND long guns, PD. Agree with your remarks, pedro. Trying not to overthink this, but first Christmas as our SIL, you know?
