Fireplace

Hello everyone....

I have a gas fireplace in my family room and I want to change the "fake brick" that surrounds the outside. Does anyone have suggestions? Or does anyone know of some websites that I can visit to get some ideas?

Thank you!

Quite a few years ago I used "thin brick" on a fireplace in my home. It's real brick, but just 1/2" or so thick. It's installed with adhesive, like ceramic tile, and grout is installed with a bakers bag, then tooled.

I am now in the planning stages of re-facing my fireplace in my current home. I am tentatively planning on using slate tile, but may also look at ceramic tile.

Be aware there are codes governing where noncombustible materials must be used. It would be a good idea to meet with the local building inspector early in the planning stage of your project. Hope I helped.
