Gas Fireplace question

I have recently moved into a house that has a Heat-n-glow fireplace, (natural Gas). It is a remote control model and I believe about 10 years old. My question is this- originally, when the remote was pressed, the fire would almost immediately start. Now it is taking sometimes over a minute to ignite, is this normal? if not what can you recommend? Obviously I am using fresh batteries in the remote.

stnaxe,

Best advice, call the manufacturer or send them an e-mail - be specific with your unit information. Here is the link;

Good Luck!

Have you also put fresh batteries in the receiver?
If the switch is electronically triggered the logs should ignite in a second: there may be something wrong with the valve in the ignitor.
