Force Heat

Force Heat
How can I force heat into my living room instead of being absorbed by the inside stone bricks? I only feel heat from a fire if I'm standing directly in front of it. I want it to be functional, not just decorative.

You can get a fireplace grate with a blower that pulls in air from the room at the bottom, heats the air through the grates, and then blows it through the top of the grates that curve up over the fire.
You also can get these grates with no blower, and they work by convection, pulling the cooler room air in and exhausting it out the top by heating it.
You can get glass fireplace doors with these for much more efficiency.
Just shop around at fireplace stores. There are numerous kinds of these things.
You only get about 10% of the heat from an open fireplace. The rest goes up the chimney. A blower grate w/doors is the way to go.
Good Luck!
