Wink

If Im right you have a ash dump there. Where it goes you have to look. Some are just a big hole down under the fire place. Others have a clean out door down in the basement and a lot of them have a clean out door on the outside of the fireplace. Look around Lots of times if if if the clean outdoor is out side there. We drill small holes in it and block the damper there in the floor of the fireplace open a little. this lets the fire and flue have lots of air and it dont take it out of the home.
You just use it when you have a big pile to clen out .
