Framing for 16" High corner hearth

I would like to built the hearth for my new wood stove. The stove sets in the corner and I would like the hearth to be 16" high. How is this framed? I was going to use 2 x 6 framing with a Dura rock sheating. I would then finish off the application with slate, tile or brick. The stove has legs and sit about 6" off the hearth. The floor joists are doubled 16" on center is this enough to support the framning and stove. Stove is 450lbs. The corner lays out 62" in each direction.

j88hawk,

Hello, and welcome to the forums.

pgtek has a point, there may be local codes that may need to be adhered to.
You need to check those, but I'm also going to move your thread into the firplaces and chimneys forum of this website. The experts over there may be able to give you additional advice on that issue.
