Convert Wood to Gas
I currently have a wood burning fireplace and the flu is only 6x8 so I can't really burn much without smoking out the house......basically just moving the heat from the house into the chimeny. It made completely out of brick and we like the overall look of it in the room.
Can this be converted to a gas fireplace with like a flu liner or something? or does the whole chimeny need to be teared down?

Greetings, are you looking for more atmosphere or more heat. You have a couple of different options. If you opted for the gas, you can check with your local codes and more often than not a 6" diameter stainless flue can be inserted inside the chimney. Making sure that this chimney is not used for anything else. Have you considered a wood stove? We had a brick fireplace in an older home and 26 years ago inserted an Efel brand wood stove on the hearth freestanding and the heat from it is incredible. You know what they say how burning wood heats you twice. Once from the work and the other from the fire. Good Luck...post back.
