Cleaning ventless fireplace
Greetings All
My wife and I just completed construction of a 24' x24' addition to our house.
I installed a Empire VFHD 36 TV -2 ventless LP gas fireplace and had the gas connected by a licensed mechanical contractor.
I know how to disconnect the O2 sensor and clean it but what about the logs and the rest of the fireplace?
The fireplace is sooting bad and I have blackened 2 furnace filters in a very short time.
I know the new carpet is producing airborne fibers which is plugging the O2 sensor and have been sweeping the carpet daily.
The problem with the sooting is that it is invisible until it is too late.
I plan on doing a complete cleaning before calling a technician (by the way any know how I can locate one in southern Mich ?)
Thanks in advance
Michael

It's a little late to try and talk you out of buying an unvented heating device since they are not safe and are slowly being outlawed in many states, but your problem sounds like it has a lack of combustion air or the pressure regulator is set wrong.
