Making a stone wall behind wood stove

I would like to make a rock wall behind my wood stove. We have a lot of different rock where I live (mountains). What is the simpelist way to do this or should I buy cultured stone ( $10 per foot). I require about 70 square feet. I have seen many acreages where people have done this. Thanks. IHD

If you have the stones, why not use them? Why pay for what you already have? Just make sure of the distance you require for the mortar you use. Where I am at, fieldstone rules. Good luck.
