Throttle fireplace damper?
Hello,
A friend and I had a discussion about fireplace flue dampers. He says it is acceptable to throttle a fireplace flue damper. I say I've never seen one I could throttle. I think they should be fully open while using the fireplace, and fully closed when not using the fireplace; no in between.
Is it acceptable to throttle a fireplace flue damper or not?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

i didnt even think about this until I read somewhere it was not only ok, but recommended (to keep heat from going out the chimney). Which is different than with woodburning stoves where yo throttle the intake.
but read this. very good info.

it says that its what you do- at least on a fireplace. I'm trying it today for the first time to see the effects.
