Unhappy wax

This sounds a bit silly, but my wife placed a couple of candles in our log burner to make it look cosy when it wasn't cold enough for a real fire.
One candle fell over and wax has gone into the base of the fire and we can't reach it to remove it.Do you know of anything that can be used to detroy the wax as every time we light a fire the odour is appalling!
Thanks,
Dave.

If it's making an odor when you have a fire, it must be slowly burning up, so it should go away on its own. If you can't reach it, I can't see how you're going to remove it any other way.
