remote control for fireplace

I have a gas fireplace that came with our townhouse.
It is about 10 years old (as is the house).

To turn on the gas fireplace, there is a simple on/ff light switch.

I have a Harmony Universal remote, and I'd like to put an IR remote onto the fireplace. I'd like to just replace the simple on off switch, as I don't think I'd be able to redo the whole thing.

Could I just switch the light switch with something like this?
Programmable Touchless Light Switch - Smarthome

or

IR-Controllable Wall Switch - 21110 - Smarthome

You may be able to use the Harmony remote, if it has a learning feature. You will have to purchase an IR remote for your fireplace and program the Harmony to replace the transmitter that comes with the remote.

I'm not an Electrician, but if I were doing this I would look for a switch that is not a dimmer. I would look for one that is a simple on/off switch. I'm not sure how the dimmer function could or would hurt the electrical componants of the fireplace. Again I'm not an electrician this is just my 2 cents. My some else who knows more and expand on or dispute my thought.

The dimmer factor did occur to me, which is why I have had a hard time find a simple on/off IR remote.

The first option I mentioned seems to be the best one.
