pellet stoves

I was wondering how good pellet stoves are? I live in the n.east,mass. I have a wood stove but hate it because its too small,its in the fireplace and would like to replace it.I have gas in the house but heard gas wasnt as good for heat just looks,what do you think? jpm

I've never lived with a pellet stove but they are a lot cleaner that wood stoves/fireplaces. I've read a bit about them and seen them in the showroom. They seem to be pretty good...except I just don't like the idea that once you've bought the stove your hooked on the pellets.
Nothing beats the heat of real wood, but real wood creattes a lot of smoke and mess.
