Fresh Air Intake for Fireplace
#1

When our home was built 10 years ago, the mason finished our fireplace with the wrong material (brick instead of slate). When they replace the brick with the slate, they covered the vent for the fresh air intake. What would be involved in opening that air intake back up? Would it be a do-it-yourself job or would it be better left to a pro?

If you can determine where it is, just punch it out and open it up. Then fix opening. Put screen wire in/over outside air opening to prevent bugs, critters, etc. from getting in. Good Luck!
