Gas starter and ceramic logs

Can I use ceramic logs in my gas starter fireplace? Do I need the flue open while the fire is on? Do I need vented or vent free logs or does that matter? Also, can I just use wood logs in a gas starter fireplace?

Thanks so much.

Welcome to the forums! Wow. No, maybe, either, yes.
If you have a gas starter, it is designed to light real wood logs. If you opt for either vented or unvented gas logs, they have to be attached to the gas line and the lighter removed. You may want to call in a pro to help you decide the best course of action. Dealing with gas lines is borderline DIY.
