brick chimney removal

i have an unused brick chimney sticking out of the roof about 2 feet and down into the attic (3 foot crawl attic) and it stops there. what is the best way to remove this from the roof and attic? it is 80 years old and solid as mt. rushmore!

top to bottom starting with the part above the roof,

chip away with a a pry bar and heavy hammer at the mortar joints, don't be impatient,

I had this with a 150 year old house, the chimney was from the original kitchen hearth. I had a new fireplace & chimney built in same location and then had the roof redone.
obviously wear heavy gloves and goggles and be careful and again don't rush.

i hope when you say "be patient" that it means several hours, not days. thanks for the help. i was going to start at the top for sure and use a small sledge hammer and chisel. i won't be starting the project quite yet, but i need to be "prepared."
