Heatilator gas fireplace mod. GNBC 33 won't stay lit.

This unit was installed when the house was built about 1997. We moved in about 5 yrs ago. During that time I've clean the pilot, Thermopile area a couple of times when it quit working always with great success. It stopped working a few days ago. I had to manualy restart the pilot. The pilot stays on indefinitely if you don't start the burner. About a minute after the burner starts the pilot goes out and then the burner secounds after. I expected that it needed cleaning again so I cleaned it ( didn't really need it ) same symptoms persist. Any Ideas would help. Pretty simple unit no red blinking lites.

thanks

John

Check for changes in the color an characteristics of the flames, especially the pilot flame.

You might notice the pilot flame turning bluer, getting thready and even disappearing for example.
