Hearth question

We are going to install a new direct vent fireplace in a newly remodeled basement. My question is: Does there have to be a raised hearth for it to set on, or can it set directly on the cement. Some confusion on my part from the installer.

its up to you, what looks good that is, the direct vent draws its air from the outside and vents to the outside,,,,it can sit directly on the floor or cement

There should be an installation manual on the fireplace that would provide detailed information on questions like that. Read that and you wont have to depend on guessing and supposing by contractors.
