Pellet stove

Have seen some pellet stove vents that don't go up to the top of the house, are these safe? Can you put a pellet stove into a oil burnner flue, have an acess point in my basement wall, 6 in pipe opening , caped off now?

I think a properly installed pellet stove flue is as safe a wood burning one. Horizontal runs are allowed of a certain length in relation to the length of the flue and the amount of vertical to insure that they (horizontal sections) are safe as well. I've seen adds for 3" diameter pellet stove flue so you should be able to use your 6" opening. You just have to make sure you follow the requirements for clearances to combustible materials.
