Gas Fireplace Problemo

Hey guys,
I have a new problem with my gas fireplace. The pilot stays lit, when I go to switch the unit on at the wall sometimes it comes on and sometimes it doesn't. When it does come on the unit will shut off most of the time.

The only way I can keep the unit on is if I turn the switch to the on position on the unit's control panel once the unit is lit.

Ideas? I cleaned the unit out yesterday which seemed to help it light more frequently, however I'm still having the problem with keeping it lit by just using the wall switch alone.

Your fireplace uses a millivolt system to actuate the gas valve. This is approximately 3/4 of one volt and all electrical connections must be perfect. You can try removing all wires (one at a time so you don't forget where they go) and thoroughly cleaning the wires and terminals. You may need to change the wall switch if the internal contacts have become even slightly corroded.
