Harman coal stove

Hi, I have a Harman Magnafire coal which we used all last year and about a month this year, for some reason when I lit it off the other morning smoke was rolling out around the glass on the front load door, nothing has really changed ,stove is vented into a metal flue which was professionally installed with the stove. Does a coal stove flue need to be cleaned? Any suggestions?

Yes!! I've burnt both wood and coal over the years and coal puts out a lot more soot than wood.

I would READ and FOLLOW the directions on the operating manual for your stove.

There tends to be A LOT of good advice in such manuals, but most people seem to ignore them.

I have an older wood/ coal stove and unless I preheat the flue to establish a draft it will create smoke in the room do you do this ?
