Burners on gas furnace won't ignite.

We have a 13 yr old Tempstar gas furnace. It will "kick on" and the pilot light is on. The blower comes on a few minutes later but the burners never ignite. My husband has been laid off for 10 months and there is no money for a repairman. Any ideas on what we might be able to check ourselves.

Welcome to the forums.

A model number would be a big help. You may have to remove the front service door to see it.

Is this a standing pilot (always lit) or a spark lit pilot light ?
