Vanguard direct vent fireplace chimney

I am installing a Vanguard direct vent fireplace and have two questions; first I notice that the the female portion of the inner vent pipe is up. Is this correct? It seems like it should be the other way. Second is there any reason not the screw the outer sections of the vent together after you have twist locked the sections?

The female portion of the liner is turned up so that the upper male section will slide down into it. That will let any creosote that forms to flow back down (and inside) the pipe to the stove.. If it didn't, you would have creosote running down the outside of the pipe and this wouldn't be good, and could be a fire hazard.
