Wind Turbine

Does anyone know about wind turbines, why they squeak. it has no bearings. 1st pict is where shaft sits and I had to put a ball bearing in the whole so bottom of turbine would not rub against the arms in last pict. 2nd pict is sleeve aligns shaft and cap. 3rd pict upside down of turbine shaft I greased really good thinking it would stop the squeaking. last pict is where turbine sits and the arms. I have greased all contact points. but it still squeaks. I went up to just regrease the same areas, and Im not sure its losing its grease on its contact points then it starts to squeak. As you can see I have greased shaft as well. why is it still squeaking??

Hard to say and I'm not experienced with those fans, but I have chased a few random squeaks. I would take a can of WD40 up there and hit all rivets or other metal to metal connections. If it is squeaking a lot, that will make it easier to find.

Good luck. Others will be by who know a lot more about these than I.

I've never had one squeak from the axle. The noisy one's I've run into have usually been bent or damaged so some part of the outer turbine rubs on the support arms or base. A couple have had the center shaft and bearing area wear down so the whole turbine rides lower and lower until something starts rubbing.

Whole lot of work on a vent that could have been replaced for about $70.00 and a few min. work.
