Fireplace question

I have 2 fireplaces, never used, opening 32x28 and 38x26. The flue is 8x13 for both. Will the draw be ok to burn wood? Chimney sweep said the fireplaces and chimneys were in excellent shape but the draw would not be good enough. The formula 1:10 says to me it should be ok for wood. He pitched running gas lines/logs (which he sells) hard so I am suspicious.

Thumbs up Welcome to our forums!

If the fireplaces are in good condition you would only need to try burning wood and see how it goes.

However, before you do you need to make sure that the wood burning fireplaces are listed on your house insurance policy.
You normally need to have them approved by your insurance company and they also need at least a written inspection by a certified sweep or installer.

Get some well seasoned wood, read up on the ins and outs of burning wood then give it a go.
