Relining Wood Burning Insert

Hello All I have an older Elmira wood burning insert (no longer made or parts available) Iíve been doing some research and found out it is supposed to have firebrick lining and base, we have been using without such it was installed used when we had stainless steel liner installed and Wett certified for the insurance. On pricing bricks it will cost me around $200can to install firebricks but was wondering if for the base if I could just pour a Refractory Cement mix then install bricks on the walls??.
