Fireproof Board Behind Wood Stove

I am setting up a shop in a metal building and want to use my wood stove. The metal building has plastic backed fiberglass batting. What would be effective fireproof to put behind the stove. Donít care what it looks like, just want effective and cheap.

Was wondering about Hardie backer or cement board? Cement board is about 2/3 the price of hardie backer if that would work. Didnít know if it was truly fireproof or if something better was out there.

Thanks,
Ken

Cement board is made of cement which is 100% fireproof so that would be a good choice.

Usually it's best to leave an air space between the cement board and the existing wall. Furring it out with 1x2s should be enough although a lot depends on how close you intend to set the stove to the wall.
