Hooking natural gas to gas logs.

I have a wood-burning fireplace. In the back is a vent that I can dump ashes. I also have a ventilator insert (1/2 in thick steel, no fans) in the fireplace. I can get a gas black pipe to the bottom where I clean out the ashes. What can I use to go up to the fireplace (about 12-18in is the height to the place where the gas logs would be) to connect to the gas fire logs? I do not know if I can use a flexible gas line or something special because of the temperature in the fireplace when used.
Any help welcome.
PS: Getting too old for wood, loved it but time to change.

You need to get the pipe into the firebox and then you should be able to use a short piece of flex.
Each insert has its own specific requirements.
