Mantle/other to protect Soundbar?

Hi all- just installed a Bose soundbar above a gas fireplace. I noticed the soundbar gets very warm due to heat. I assume I can install a mantle/floating shelf to protect the soundbar? Recommendations on material and or shelf? Other options?

Yeah, you will be ok doing that, your mantle needs to be 12" above the fireplace.

You could install a metal shelf or heat shield that would protect both the sound bar and TV. It could be something light weight and minimal being used only as a heat shield but minimal in appearance. Or, you could locate it a little below the TV to make it a functioning shelf and could be "pretty" (more than just a sheet of metal).

What would you like to see there ?
How long is the bar ?

Some suggestions:
42" floating shelf
universal floating shelf
mantle kits
fireplace shelf mantles
