Question Sealed Fireplace

I have just bought an older home. The living room has a nice size fireplace that I would like to use. It has been sealed, however. Can a sealed fireplace be brought back to life for woodburning or should I consider the vent free gas log route?

Cool

It may be possible to bring an old fireplace "back to life", but it could be expensive (to include a new flue liner, etc.).
You might open it up and have it inspected by a licensed profesisonal to see what it may need.
A vent-free gas log unit would be the most economical (drawback: fumes).
Good Luck!
