Victorian style fireplace: ceramic tiles
#1

I have purchased a new victorion style cast iron fireplace, which has a row of ceramic tiles down each side of the opening.
Within a week of delivery and before installation, the ceramic tiles have started to crack (long isolated cracks) . The cracks appear to be restricted to the glazed finish.
The supplier has told me that the cracking is in fact 'crazing' and is normal for these tiles. The tiles were imported from China.
The tiles have not yet been exposed to any heat.
Has anybody else has this problem? Are the tiles fit for the purpose or am i being fooled!

Hello
This sounds like they would like it to go away....I would get in touch with the manufacture and find out why....check first with them and ask if this could happen, before you tell them it has, and see what they would do about it if it should happen....then tell them it did and you want it made right...Good Luck
