Framing Ceiling Under stairs??
Hi,
I am down to a fewtwo more things to frame in my basement and one of them is the closet that I want under the basement stairs.
I am curious about which way is the best way to frame the ceiling of the closet. SHould I attach drywall directly to the bottom of the stairs?? Or should I Frame out a new ceiling. If I am framing out a new ceiling, any suggestions?
One last question, the stairs seem to wiggle or give slightly when you walk down them, what is the best way to make the stairs more solid?
Thanks for any help.
Lou

We hang directly on the bottom of the stair framing all the time. As in your case it's generally just a junk closet, although have done a few where entertainment centers were put in place of the closet.
As for your wobbly stairs, can't say w/o knowing how it's framed, might need additional fasteners or possibly cross-bracing between the framing members. Need more info to give specific advice. Hope that helps out though.
