Question Trusses?

I am building a 12x12 addition on a cottage. The cottage has a hip roof and is approx 24'x30'. The addition will be along one of the 30' sides making it "L" shaped. I'd like to use scissor trusses to gain some ceiling height, but to keep the same type of roof, I should put a hip roof on the addition. Is it possible to gain height with a hip roof? If not, I'll use scissor trusses ( or something similar), and change the addition to a gable roof.

If I have to use trusses, does anyone have a design for a 12" scissor truss that has a 4.5/12 slope?

Thanks

Personally I don't build trusses, much easier & quicker to buy them pre-made & engineered to specs, check with a local building materials supplier & they'll be able to order for you. I would just put a gable roof on an addition of that size. Hope that helps.
