Vapor Barrier

Good day everybody. I am installing laminate flooring over concrete.I have a foam underlay that will act as a vapor barrier and I need to know what kind of tape I need to seal the joints. Thank you for any advice you could offer.

Hi Rick and welcome to the forum.

I'm no expert on this by any means, but when I did the exact same thing you're doing now, I just used regular clear packing tape, about 2" wide. Don't confuse what I mean with scotch tape (good for christmas gifts that have to hold for a month....bad for flooring that has to hold for years, plus keep out moisture)...but good...sticky...wide...packing tape

Hope that helps

We use duct tape for that application, same with taping seams of fanfold insulation under vinyl siding. When I was in the AF saw mechanics use it to patch wings on old c-130's, which leaves me with no doubts as to it's durability and adherance properties.

You can use

Foil faced tape to seal the joints. It is usually easy to find at your Home improvement store
