replacing support wall with I beam

Hi all.

I have an oportunity to get a 27 foot, 8 inch i beam with 4 inch top and bottom. with half an i beam welded to one side. What i am wondering is what the maximum span is for this I beam for a typical one story bungalow. The house is approximately 12 foot span on each side of the support wall.

Any input apreciated.. I am sure I probably will need to provide more information, but not sure what.

Also wondering if it is possible to secure another I beam to the end of this one to cover another 12 feet.

Thanks

Scott
