Insect damaged main beam

I have a main beam that was eaten in some parts by insects. Back in 1974 the whole basement was treated for termites and there has not been a problem since. We are now thinking of selling our house. The beam is fine however it might scare a prospective buyer. It is a 2 story farm house with a 7' ceiling in the basement. The house is very sturdy but it just may need to be replaced to ease a buyer's mind. The beam is made up of 3 2x8s. The span is about 24' with the supports at 8' apart. How difficult a job is it for a do it yourselfer?

Perhaps you could sister (sandwich) the beam between two new 2x8s.
