solving squeaky floor before installing laminate flooring?

I am trying to rid our kitchen of a squeaky linoleum floor before we install our laminate flooring over top... any advice?

I used 1 3/4" screws about every 2-3 feet to alleviate the problem, screwing them down into the subfloor (3/4" thick plywood) and into the joist below. The floor is quieter than before, but still has a number of really noisy sections. Even where I applied multiple screws, the floor seems to squeak between the joists??

any ideas / tips / suggestions / comments?

Howie

Would have been good if they used glue on the joists when the sheeting was initially laid. It also should be screwed down every 6"-8" on each joist. I screw down the butts every 4". Hope that helps a bit.

Lightbulb Howster, this fixed my squeaky floor

www.squeakender.com

this is the one you want, theres another squeak thing that goes from above but that will shoot a sh*&load of nails into your lineolium. Ive used these before it is the sturdiest way to stop that squeak for good. it's a clamp!

Good Luck!
